Josh Bates Debuts New Music At Beach Street Records Showcase
Monday, June 13, 2005
Josh Bates, the newest Beach Street recording artist, joined platinum selling label mate Casting Crowns for Beach Street Records’ barbecue/new music showcase June 2. Mark Miller, founder and president of Beach Street Records and frontman of country music phenomenon Sawyer Brown, hosted the event on his Franklin, Tenn. farm where industry professionals were invited to hear Bates for the first time.
Bates fervently delivered “Perfect Day,” “Less” and “Never Give Up” from his debut album Perfect Day while accompanying himself on guitar, one of the many instruments he is featured playing on his album. His performance garnered emotional acclaim from all in attendance. Following Bates’ performance, Miller took the stage with Sawyer Brown and performed two high-spirited songs for the audience. On the second song, Sawyer Brown’s hit, “Mission Temple Fireworks Stand,” the band was joined by Bates and Casting Crowns’ Mark Hall on vocals.
Singer/songwriter Josh Bates (22) was only 15 years old when he became acquainted with Miller, which set off a seven year mentoring friendship. A uniquely talented musician, Bates has played mandolin since he was eleven and now plays guitar and piano. He grew up singing in church, influenced by the culture of the Appalachian region.
