Essential Records’ folk-pop group Caedmon’s Call was recently honored with an award at Compassion International’s Artist Appreciation Dinner for its five years of partnership resulting in sponsorships of more than 6,000 children. This recognition comes with the band’s return from its latest Compassion International trip to Ecuador and Brazil as the group begins work on its upcoming fall studio album which takes Caedmon’s Call deeper into its overseas ministry by recording with musicians and songwriters in these countries and India, to raise awareness of existing persecution and poverty.

Compassion is thankful for the relationship with Caedmon’s Call and we are extremely committed to its passion for children living in extreme poverty,” says Spence Smith, artist relations for Compassion International. “This award represents our gratefulness and we look forward to our continued partnership as well as anticipate the band’s upcoming record which will further explore the experience of uniting these cultures in music.”

Compassion International exists as an advocate for children, releasing them from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enabling them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults. Founded by Rev. Everett Swanson in 1952, Compassion International began providing Korean war orphans with food, shelter, education and healthcare, as well as Christian training. Today, Compassion International helps more than 550,000 children in more than 20 countries
